I ordered a NanoVNA off of AliExpress and when it arrived I found that the touch screen wasn’t working so I took it apart to see I could fix it and as the title says, you will have guessed that I ended up making it worse. You see the soldering iron I have at home just does not get hot enough and the tip is very big and in the end I ended up tearing the ribbon cable to the screen.

But being persistent I decided I would give it another go using ZS1SMP Andries’ soldering iron at the club house. I decided that the ribbon cable was likely broken so I proceeded to scratch off the protective coating of the ribbon cable, and individually solder on a new connection for each line.

After a few hours of painstakingly getting each connection to stay put, I managed to get all the connections working and the NanoVNA screen sprung to life and the touch screen was now working.

It just goes to show that, if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again.
